We are accepting applications for an experienced Utility Line Clearance General Foreman.
Please note, the following is a list of essential duties required for the Utility Line Clearance General Foreman position. All positions at Cambium Tree Care and Preservation, Inc. are dynamic. The employee who occupies this, and any other position, is expected to assume any/all duties assigned by management irrespective of whether such duties are specifically included in this list. All employees are required to report to various and changing job locations based on operational requirements. All employees of Cambium Tree Care and Preservation, Inc are considered essential during emergency and storm situations and must be able to work 16 hours per day for extended periods of time and may be required to be away from their family. Individuals must be available to serve on-call and are subject to having to work outside of their assigned shift/schedule to meet operational needs.
Utility Line Clearance General Foreman
Reports to:
The Utility Line Clearance General Foreman will report directly to the Right of Way Coordinator.
Position Overview:
The main objectives of the Utility Line Clearance General Foreman are to provide leadership, direction and supervision to crews performing utility line clearance and vegetation management to the electric utility. This position is responsible for the accuracy and submittal of all applicable paperwork as it pertains to the assigned work, ensure proper performance of all daily paperwork and inspections, as well as safety, production, and performance of all crew members. It is Cambium Tree Care and Preservation’s goal to follow the highest ethical standards with a focus on safe work practices and adherence to all applicable OSHA and ANSI standards. Reporting locations for work will change due to operational demands, work contracts and client needs.
Compensation:
This is a full-time position. Benefits and compensation are based on qualifications, certifications, and experience.
Essential Functions:
Ability to operate, direct and supervise the use of chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts, forestry mulchers, aerial tree trimmers and hand tools required to provide adequate clearance of vegetation from electric utility lines.
Plan, direct, and provide daily updates on the progress of crews and equipment executing assigned tasks in a safe, efficient, and professional manner.
Receives and tree trimming/removal orders initiated by supervisor or the utility, involving an understanding of drawings and symbols representing types of line, voltages and line equipment.
Assigns work to individual crew members and supervises crew in carrying out work according to good tree clearance practices. Must be capable of adjusting to field requirements.
Remains in contact with customers, property owners, general public, other contractors and representatives of the utility. Must be professional and courteous while communicating on behalf of or representing Cambium Tree Care and Preservation.
Manual labor includes lifting heavy objects, dragging, and chipping brush and limbs, stacking debris, logs etc.
Work around excessive noise from equipment, chippers, chainsaws, etc. and employ safe work practices and use of all PPE.
Must be prepared and willing to work outdoors and in all types of adverse weather conditions including rain, temperature extremes, and exposure to biting/stinging insects, irritating plants, dust, etc.
Employ safe work practices around hazardous equipment and energized conductors and electrical lines.
Be able and involved in setting up all necessary work zones, traffic control etc.
Initiate and lead daily scheduled crew and safety meetings.
Ensure and verify work quality and safety of all work performed, including attention to details through property evaluations, site inspections, pre-trip and post-trip vehicle and equipment inspections.
Be accountable for and direct the daily maintenance and upkeep of all company vehicles, equipment, and property.
Evaluates crew members’ performance to determine promotions/performance. Ensure crew members have consistent performance reviews for opportunities to advance.
Promotes sound relations with employees on all personnel matters and exercise fair and reasonable judgement in management of employee conflicts while working with Human Resources.
Always maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude.
Ability to be organized and detailed in the execution of assigned duties.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to lead and direct multiple personnel and crews in a safe, efficient, and productive manner.
Able to work extended periods of time, often in various locations and changing daily duties.
Experience in or ability to learn OSHA and ANSI Z133 standards as it applies to utility electrical line vegetation clearance.
Ability to work extended hours and overtime during emergencies or as directed, including weekends, holidays, storms, etc.
Valid CPR and First Aid Certifications or ability to obtain.
Excellent verbal and written communication and people skills. Ability to effectively communicate with crew members, management, and clients to resolve issues of concern and resolve conflicts.
The ability to work safely and ensure compliance with company and all ANSI safety standards.
Ability to operate a vehicle pulling trailers. A CDL is preferred and may be required.
Minimum Requirements: (or ability to obtain)
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Valid Driver’s license, clean driving history and ability to pass a drug and alcohol screening.
Line clearance and equipment certifications or ability to obtain.
ISA Certified Arborist/Utility Arborist, and CTSP preferred or ability to obtain.
Electrical Hazard Awareness Program (EHAP)
Knows and understands the American National Standards for Tree Care Operations (ANSI Z-133.1).
Knows and understands the American National Standards for Proper Pruning (ANSI A300).
Enforces on the job safety Practices.
Valid CPR/First Aid Certification.
